Child Tax Credit Information & Important Deadlines

The Child Tax Credit expansion provides a historic opportunity to reduce child poverty in the United States by more than 40 percent. However, roughly 4 million or more children are in families that may need assistance signing up for the payments and filing a tax return to get the remaining credit in 2022. Eligible individuals can sign up to receive monthly Child Tax Credit payments using the simple tool for non-filers developed by the non-profit Code for America, in collaboration with the Administration, through November 15, 2021. Should individuals prefer to use the IRS tool to sign up, the deadline is October 15, 2021(note: the simple tool is preferable because it is mobile friendly, translated to Spanish, has fewer glitches, and has a later deadline).
